At the Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. In total, we are about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

Your workplace
The Reception and Return Center is undergoing significant development.

You will work with issues that concern and engage in a dynamic environment characterized by meeting people and influenced by what happens in our surroundings. It is also an environment characterized by continuous learning and participation, where we, through co-location, have better conditions to work closely together among the professions in the protection process. We are also close to the applicant by working where the applicant lives. This way, we can work more efficiently and make it safer for the applicant.

It is an international environment, both because Malmö is a point of entry and exit with proximity to Kastrup, but also because the agency will become more integrated into a common European asylum reception and EU agencies such as Frontex and EUAA next year. When you work in the center, you become part of the journey towards a new and reformed asylum reception. Feel free to listen to our employees who talk about working in the Reception and Return Center at the agency: Reception and Return Center (https://migrationsverket.varbi.com/center/tool/position/872212/edit/tab:2/Mottagnings-och%20%C3%A5terv%C3%A4ndandecenter)

What does a migration officer do?
As a migration officer, you will handle, investigate, decide, and propose decisions in various types of cases. The decisions have legal effects for individuals and affect their rights to benefits, rights, and obligations. Additionally, you will work with administration where you manage records and documents that have been received or created in a case. In your role, you will meet and have conversations with individuals who have cases at the Migration Agency and other stakeholders. The conversations may involve informing about decisions or explaining the Migration Agency's processes, as well as guiding and providing service. You will identify and address any special needs of individuals, and if applicable, hold conversations with adults and children in vulnerable situations.

Who are you?
We are looking for someone who has good collaboration skills, is attentive, and resolves conflicts constructively. You are clear in your communication and ensure that messages are conveyed and that expectations are clear for all parties involved. Furthermore, you are structured and can independently plan and organize your work effectively towards set goals and deadlines. You are flexible and can easily adapt and change your perspective and approach in changing circumstances.

In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.

To apply, you have

  • A university degree of at least 120 credits in law, social sciences, or behavioral sciences, or another education combined with relevant experience for the role
  • Knowledge of administrative law matters
  • Experience in work requiring good service and professional treatment
  • Good communication skills and express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish and English
